About Us

Statistics say that 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime… In February 2022, I was diagnosed with stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and became 1 of those 8 women. I survived the pink tragedy but underwent 8 surgeries including a lumpectomy, 16 rounds of radiation, prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction, and 2 post-operative complications.

I lost my mother to breast cancer in 2013, and my grandmother in 2016, so honoring the fallen is deeply personal to me. But understanding the journey, I could never look away or not support those fighting the disease. This has made me a forever advocate of everything pink and brown, and that notion became the founding principle of starting an organization that caters to melanin women with breast cancer. In paying forward the support I received in my journey, I seek to attain allyship with other organizations to collectively reduce the number of lives lost in black women.

The Melanin Breast Cancer Alliance, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Georgia established exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our organization will raise money and solicit donations to provide awareness and support that enables women to take control of their breast health. We commit our resources to tackling the disproportionate challenges that disempower the uninsured, underinsured, and underrepresented women of color.
