My name is Angela and I’m 39 years old. The first time that I was diagnosed with breast cancer was on 03/09/2020. Sadly, I received this news one day after my birthday. I had 6 chemotherapies from April 2020 until August 2020, and then my double mastectomy in 09/2020. After I completed 28 radiation sessions from mid-November to the beginning of December 2020, after all that, I had to complete 12 more immunotherapy sessions from January 2021, until June of the same year. After being on remission for almost 2 years, my cancer returned again on 07/2023, this time in my lumbar 5, and some spots in my T spine and my Cervical spine as well. I just started treatment again this January 2024. My new treatment is Enhertu and Ila, and the monthly injection Xgeva for my bones. I was also on Aromasin and Lupron since last July, but due to my liver levels being high we need to put these two meds on hold. My cancer now is considered metastatic breast cancer. Like my doctor said, it is not curable, but still treatable.
I’m reaching to have more years to live with my family. My husband and kids are my motor to keep doing this, and my faith too. Sometimes, it is not easy. I’m trying to see this illness as any other chronic illness, like a diabetes or high blood pressure. This has been helping me to cope with this recurrence.
